MESSAGE FROM THE CEO A RESILIENT YEAR

Despite all the adversities resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic throughout 2020, yet again, Sonae MC exceeded expectations and dealt with matters at hand, swiftly adapting its operating model, relying on the utmost commitment from its workforce, and continuing to provide a service of excellence to its Customers and Communities.

The critical role we took on to support Portuguese families was very much acknowledged by our Customers' unfaltering confidence and increased trust reflected in their daily visits to our stores, resulting in a remarkable performance during the period. In 2020 we grew sales, conquered market share, and reinforced our indisputable leadership positioning. Also, we maintained resilient profitability levels, by successfully balancing the immediate challenges caused by the health crisis with the fulfilment of our medium and long-term strategic priorities and the pursuit of our sustainable development targets.

It is with a confident, yet prudent attitude, that we look ahead towards the new year. We remain dedicated to continuing to lead transformation in the food-based retail sector in Portugal.
