More than 370.000 customers contributed to a solidarity campaign

  • More than 500 thousand people supported

  • Over 150 thousand kilos of food donated by Missão Continente

  • More than 1.2 million euros raised

Continente thanks the more than 370 thousand families that contributed to the raising of 1.2 million euros in food in the “Todos por Todos” (“All for All”) solidarity campaign, which add to the 150 thousand kilos donated by Missão Continente, and will help more than 500 thousand people who are experiencing economic difficulties due to the pandemic.

The total value of the support (1.2 million euros) corresponds to the sale of a million vouchers and to donations made through value-added phone calls and bank transfers (460 thousand euros), to which were added 150 thousand kilos of food donated by Missão Continente at the beginning of the campaign.

Missão Continente is already delivering food and donations to its social partners - Portuguese Red Cross (CVP), the Food Emergency Network and the Audiovisual Union - which are bringing them to needy families, as a result of the social and economic context we live in.

The solidarity vouchers initiative, which took place in all Continente stores across the country, also had the mission of supporting and promoting Portuguese culture and artistic activity, deeply affected by the pandemic, through the promotion of concerts throughout the country. Missão Continente brought together 11 national artists and bands - Jorge Palma, Salvador Sobral, GNR, Clã, Marta Ren, Fernando Daniel, Bárbara Tinoco, Jimmy P, Camané, Capicua and Calema - and scheduled shows in various venues across the country. Tickets were awarded those customers who purchased more vouchers. The winner names can already be found at todosportodos.continente.pt and the concerts not yet performed will be rescheduled for a date to be defined.

Tiago Simões, Marketing Director at Sonae MC says that “the year 2020 will never be forgotten and there is still a long way to go before we regain a normal lifestyle. If the pandemic affected everyone's daily lives in general, it severely impacted hundreds of thousand families who were faced with unemployment and serious financial needs. Faced with these tragedy situations, the Portuguese once again and unequivocally revealed their generosity”.
