Pinheiro Bombeiro back to light a different Christmas

Missão Continente supports the #pinheirobombeiro movement that is back to brighten up Christmas for Portuguese families and returns with the mission of helping even more the Portuguese Voluntary Firefighters in a particularly difficult year.

Through the pinheirobombeiro.pt platform it is already possible to give a second life to pine trees that have been cut to clean the forests and prevent fires.

As in the last editions, for each rented pine tree, € 5 revert to the purchase of professional equipment to support more than 20,000 volunteer firefighters who in 2020 fought about 9,500 rural fires and still remained at the forefront in the fight against Covid-19, providing 85% of the hospital emergency service.

For the first time, the campaign will have national coverage. It will be possible to embrace this cause throughout the country, through the purchase of solidary ornament sets, which will be on sale at dozens of Galp gas stations, from North to South of Portugal. The #pinheirobombeiro ornaments are sustainable, made of wood, and can be purchased for € 5, with € 1 reverting to the same cause.

The pine trees will be able to be rented in more geographical areas of the country, such as Leiria, Caldas da Rainha and Torres Vedras and not only in Lisbon or Porto.

To rent a ‘Pinheiro Bombeiro’ pine tree, or to buy sets of solidary ornaments, just visit the initiative’s official website. This year, more than ever, online orders and home deliveries will be privileged, to avoid travel and gatherings. Aware of this situation, ‘Rnters’ reduced the value of home deliveries, accessible in Lisbon and Porto.

However, it is also possible to rent ‘Pinheiro Bombeiro’ pine trees in person at the Lx Factory in Lisbon, at Porto’s Galp gas station, in Av. Do Bessa 45, and at the Lizauto Group car stands in Leiria, Caldas da Rainha and Torres Vedras. The solidarity ornaments are for sale in the same places as well as in 41 Galp stations, spread throughout the country.

At the end of the pine tree rental period, it can be returned to ‘Rnters’ at the locations indicated on the online platform for them to be transformed into biomass, making the rental also end in a sustainable manner.
