This year, Popota teamed up with youtuber Luccas Neto and, until December 24th, there are more than 2,000 toys with direct discounts of up to 50% in Continente stores across the country and online. Among the novelties are the new spaces dedicated to pop culture, exclusive offers and sustainable toys. Every week there are campaigns with specific promotions by category in more than 300 brands.

In addition to the items for sale in physical stores, Continente Online has more than 600 exclusive toys. Customers who’d rather see the offer in store, but want to receive it at home (larger toys, for example), may order them at the ‘Mais Continente’ kiosks available at 51 stores across the country. Just choose the desired product(s) at the kiosk, pay at checkout along the rest of the purchases and have them delivered for free.

The doll category remains one of the most sought after and among this year’s novelties it is possible to find the ‘Rainbow High’ or the ‘Cry Babies BFF’ brands, but also the classics from ‘Barbie’, ‘Nancy’ and ‘Nenuco’. For building fans, there are hundreds of ‘Lego’ models to choose from.

For the youngest, the ‘Fisher-Price’, ‘Baby Clementoni’, ‘Chicco’ and ‘Happy Bear’ brands stand out, and for pre-schoolers, among the favourites, are ‘Gabby’s Dollhouse’, the exclusive ‘Luccas Neto’ doll, that speaks the youtuber’s 14 most iconic sentences, and ‘Peppa Pig’ plush toys. For those who only care about cars and motorcycles, there are tracks, garages, remote controlled vehicles and much more.

This year, ‘Zoko’, the leading toy private label brand in Portugal, presents a renewed image in 3 brands: ‘Sarita’ dolls, Puzzles and Classic Games. For those looking for options that promote sustainability among the youngest, ‘Zoko’ also has exclusive toys made from FSC certified wood, which comes from sustainable forests.
The brand’s sustainability concerns are also reflected in the packaging, as “65% of the range has recyclable packaging and 75% of the plastic used is recyclable”, explains Luís Magalhães, Buyer of Toys at MC.

For kids and adults alike, Continente’s 2022 toy fair presents an innovation: an offer dedicated to geek culture, or pop culture, a growing trend at an international level. For the Portuguese market, Continente partnered with ‘Road Sixty Geek’, which allows customers to enter a world full of their favourite series, films or games. There are currently 18 Continente hypermarkets with the concept already implemented, featuring differentiating products from various brands and licenses: ‘My Hero Academy’, ‘Naruto’, ‘Fortnite/Roblox’, ‘Batman’, ‘Star Wars’, ‘Harry Potter’ and ‘DC/Marvel’, as well as some revivals (‘Back to the Future’/ ‘KITT’) and the latest ‘Funko’ novelties. In recent months, sales of items related to pop culture have grown by double digits in Continente stores.
