NOS and Missão Continente raise 2.5 tonnes of animal feed
On October 4th World Animal Day was celebrated and Missão Continente joined NOS to help the animals that need it the most, with the delivery of 2,500kg of feed to Animalife.
To mark the date, users of the NOS app were surprised, between the 28th of September and the 2nd of October, with a special banner in which they simply clicked and donated food for pets.
“At no cost to you, you just donated 1 kg of feed”, as simple as that.
It is estimated that more than half (56%) of Portuguese households have pets and several families were impacted by the pandemic crisis, affecting their ability to care for the four-legged family members. To fight the situation, and as a result of this action, NOS and Missão Continente delivered 2.5 tonnes of food for dogs and cats to Animalife, which helps animal support associations, families in economic need and homeless people with dependent animals, throughout the country.
Animalife currently helps 335 animal support entities, 170 individual protectors, about 500 families and more than 80 homeless people with dependent animals, in a universe of approximately 60,000 supported animals. Created in 2011, it is a non-profit association whose main mission is to involve and raise the community's awareness of the problems of abandonment and mistreatment of pet animals, acting on their causes.”
