FUNCHAL: CONTINENTE MODELO VIVEIROS REINAUGATED

Continente Modelo Viveiros, in São Roque, Funchal, is now completely refurbished, featuring 2800 m2 of sales area, 12 cashiers and other 9 self-checkout cashiers in the hypermarket, a Well’s store and 227 parking spaces. The reopening event took place yesterday with the presence of the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, the CEO of MC, Luís Moutinho, and several other guests from the region.

This is the first Continente store in Madeira featuring a ‘single line’ checkout, which allows for faster payment of purchases. The store, which is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm, has a new fish area, a bakery (with personalized service area), a butcher and fruits and vegetables and a BIO space taking into account new consumer trends. With a greater product variety and a space next to the cashiers line dedicated to products from Madeira, the store already exceeds 600 regional items that come from the 80 producers on the island that work together with the Continente brand.

The store also features wider aisles to facilitate circulation and electronic tickets in the service areas.

According to José Carlos Salvado, Operations Director for Madeira, “we are very excited about the remodelling of this Continente store, which is now bigger and more modern, in order to meet the needs of our customers and friends. We also have a greater offer of regional products featuring the best that is made on the Madeira island. In 2021, Continente bought more than 3,500 tonnes and more than 2 million litres from regional producers and, this year, these numbers should be largely exceeded. We invite you to visit us and get to know the new services we present, in addition to the campaigns in force.

In the space, the ‘Roda da Sorte’ (Wheel of Fortune) action (for purchases over €30) is taking place between the 29th and 31st of August, where customers can win several Continente or MyLabel gifts. On the official reopening day, on August 30th, customers who visit the space will be surprised with gifts such as flowers and balloons.

In addition to environmental concerns, this modernization also ensured the improvement of safety, health and well-being conditions of all employees, therefore investing in the renovation of all social areas, as well as in the operational component.

On the environmental front, there is also the availability of equipment where consumers can deposit used batteries, used coffee capsules and cork stoppers, as well as equipment for dispensing returnable bottles. In terms of lighting, the store features 100% LED low consumption light bulbs and also equipment to control and reduce potentially excessive water consumption.
