VEGAN ALTERNATIVE TO SALMON HITS CONTINENTE STORES
Revo food smoked salmon is the innovative vegan alternative to traditional fish, made from pea protein, algae extracts and vegetable oils, with a high content of protein and omega-3 fatty acids, and is also a source of vitamin B12. The 100% plant-based range, created with the help of 3D printing technology, is for sale for 5.95€ per unit.
This vegan product is more sustainable than most conventional protein sources and contains plant oils, such as rapeseed and linseed oil, which are omega-3 sources, with health benefits such as reducing inflammation and improving skin health.
Created with the help of 3D printing technology, this new product has a texture and flavour similar to salmon. 3D printing consists of the process of creating three-dimensional objects from a digital file and its application in the food industry becomes a great ally in the production of plant-based alternatives to meat and fish.
This vegan alternative to smoked salmon from Revo Foods can be used as a starter or ‘tapas’, or as an ingredient in sandwiches, wraps, salads, pasta, in risottos or as a pizza topping.
According to the results of Missão Continente/ICS-ULisboa’s III Great National Sustainability Survey, and compared with data from 2018, there was a decrease in meat consumption and an increase in the importance of plant-based meals for consumers, already exceeding two meals, on average, per week.
Increased concerns about health and healthy eating, as well as greater environmental awareness and attention to animal welfare, have led to an increase in demand for innovative and disruptive products aimed at veggie diets (vegans, vegetarians and flexitarians).
