MC COMMITS TO TRAINING 23 MORE EMPLOYEES

The 2nd edition of the Higher Technician Professional course (CTeSP) in Retail Management, developed by MC, in partnership with the Higher School of Business Sciences (ESCE), of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS), has already started and has 23 more employees.

The Retail Management course aims to prepare students for the evolution of the sector’s business, developing skills that respond to market needs. This 2nd edition mainly addresses the new era of the “phygital” world (simultaneous physical and digital model), focusing on the importance of consumers and the new ways for retailers to connect, relying on digital, omni-channel and in-store technology. This edition will train MC employees who work as store managers or store area coordinators.

The training, which takes place on an after-work basis and in a b-learning format, will allow the qualification of MC employees, who possess a 12th grade education (corresponding to Level 3 of the National Qualifications Framework), to Higher Professional Technician (corresponding to Level 5 of the National Qualifications Framework). It lasts for 1 year, plus 6 months of internship (at the place of activity).

This course’s creation - which is already in its 2nd edition - takes place within the scope of the development plan provided by MC, with the aim of valuing our people, by upskilling their skills. At MC, we want to ensure that we are prepared for the retail sector’s future challenges, clearly investing in the anticipation, planning and strategic development of our employees and leaders. In this context, this strategic alliance with the academy is, from our point of view, absolutely central” explains Vera Rodrigues, Head of People at MC.

Upon course completion, trainees will be able to coordinate and execute activities linked to retail commercial management, also supporting planning, organizing, team management, development of communication strategies, organizing and laying out of the point of sale, through the management of marketing resources. The course also aims to respond to lifelong learning, following the best international practices, with an entry system that respects vocational guidance.

The development of this course in partnership with ESCE follows the protocol created between MC and the Higher Polytechnic Institutes’ Coordinating Council (CCISP), in January 2019, which also enabled the launch of the pioneering master’s degree in ‘Logistics and Supply Chain, LGCA’ with the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (IPS) and the Higher Technician Professional Course (CTeSP) in Commercial Management at the Point of Sale, with the Higher Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto (ISCAP), of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP).

The partnership between MC and CCISP is materialized in a permanent dialogue platform, with the aim of promoting admission and qualifications at the Higher Education level, and responding to recruitment and professional development needs, based on a more comprehensive training offer aligned with the current demands of the brands and businesses that MC represents.
