CONTINENTE OPENS ITS 1st STORE IN OLIVEIRA DO BAIRRO
The 1st Continente store in the municipality of Oliveira do Bairro opens today in Oiã, on National Road no. 235, in Lugar do Facho, creating 46 new jobs in the region. Offering Wells, cafeteria, bakery and take away services, the new supermarket has 227 parking spaces and is equipped with solar panels and two electric charging stations for electric vehicles.
The new store features 1643 m2 of sales area and is the 24th store in the district of Aveiro.
Ricardo Costa, the new store manager, has been with MC for 6 years and explains that “it is a source of pride to open the first Continente store in Oliveira do Bairro, in Oiã, so that we can be ever closer to our customers, with the best prices and the best product quality and variety such as bakery, fresh produce, butcher, fishmonger, take-away and cafeteria products. Our fantastic team hopes that customers visit the new store and that they will be pleasantly surprised by all the offers, quality, service and prices. We want the new Continente Bom Dia Oiã to become part of the families’ usual routine”.
Like all the brand’s stores, customers can use reusable bags when buying fruit, vegetables or bakery products and use their own containers for cold cuts and take-away services. To promote and raise awareness on food waste, customers can find 0%Waste boxes, which contain 5 kg of fruit and vegetables in good consumption conditions, but close to the limit of their shelf life, for sale for €0.50/kg.
The opening of the space is marked by a 10% discount on Continente Card campaign, throughout the entire store, between the 24th and the 27th of November.
In terms of lighting, the store has 100% LED low-consumption light bulbs, equipment to control and reduce excessive water consumption and containers where customers can deposit used cooking oil, used batteries and cork stoppers, which will later be taken for recycling.
To highlight the arrival in the region, Missão Continente gifted shopping carts filled with essential goods to the institutions sponsored by the new store: Oiã’s Social Centre, ‘Ambiente Para Todos’ Centre, ‘SóBustos’ and ‘Animais Águeda’.
These institutions will be permanently supported by Missão Continente, through the new Continente Bom Dia Oiã store’s daily food surpluses.
