The 6th edition of the Continente Producers Club’s Academy, a training program focused on national producers’ innovation, competitiveness and sustainability, has the participation of 26 Continente supplier companies from the national agri-food sector, of the most diverse areas: Fruits and Vegetables, Delicatessen and Cheeses, Meat, Bakery and Pastry products, Wine, Eggs.

Jorge Moreira da Silva, the President of the Platform for Sustainable Growth, attended the launch of this edition, who reflected on “The challenges of sustainable development, climate change and biodiversity”.

During the 6 months of training, participants are accompanied by Sonae staff, by guests and by a group of researchers, who, together, form the Continente Producers Club’s Scientific Council and who share technical knowledge and best international practices.

At the end, each participant is invited to present an innovation project, with the support, throughout the entire program, of MC’s Innovation Department.

The Continente Producers Club’s Academy is a training program developed specifically for the Club’s members, with the aim of reinforcing their knowledge on the various areas of the supply chain, making them more competitive and aware of the current Retail situation, accelerating innovation, competitiveness and sustainability processes.

Launched in 2017, the Academy already has more than 50 innovation projects presented, including new products and concepts aligned with current production and consumption trends, and 10 producers distinguished with the Continente Producers Club’s Innovation Prize.

Ondina Afonso, Continente Producers Club’s President, states that “innovation, excellence and sustainability continue to be flagships of the Continente Producers Club. With yet another edition of the Academy, we want to aid our producers to be increasingly more competitive, taking into account these differentiation axes. MC wants to be, more and more, an accelerator for the incorporation of innovation and new technologies, in order to make its partners more competitive and sustainable”.
