CONTINENTE OPENS THE BRAND’S FIRST STORE IN MIRA

As of today, Mira has the first Continente store in the municipality, with 1,550 m2 and 42 employees. The new store is open daily from 8 am to 9 pm, and follows MC’s proximity stores expansion strategy in urban locations and neighbourhoods. Customers can also benefit from 114 parking spaces and charging spaces for electric vehicles.

The opening of the space is marked with a 10% discount on Continente Card campaign, throughout the store, between June 29th and July 2nd, which accumulates with the promotions in force.

The new store offers a range of thousands of products, which includes Continente’s private label products as well as the brands that usually make up the Portuguese people’s basket of choices. This opening reinforces the brand’s commitment to the district of Coimbra, which now has 12 stores.

To highlight its arrival in the region, Missão Continente gifted shopping carts filled with essential goods to the institutions sponsored by the new store: the ‘Associação de Idosos Mirense’ (‘Mirense’ Association for the Elderly); the ‘Obra do Frei Gil – Mira’, the Carapelhos and Corticeiro de Baixo Social Solidarity Association; and the ‘Carinho’ Shelter - Municipality of Mira’s Friends of Animals Association. Missão Continente will permanently support these institutions, through daily food surpluses from the new Continente Bom Dia Mira store.

At Continente Bom Dia Mira, consumers can count on fresh and seasonal products always available, from fruits and vegetables, to bakery, butcher and fishmonger products that the store offers, with national products and the possibility for customers to benefit from the advantages of the Continente Card.

On the environmental front, the photovoltaic solar panels on the store’s rooftop account for around 45% of the store’s total consumption, guaranteeing its self-sufficiency for a period of more than 8 hours on a day with good solar radiation.  There is also provision of containers where customers can deposit used batteries and cork stoppers, which will later be taken for recycling. In terms of lighting, the store has 100% LED low-consumption light bulbs, and also equipment to control and reduce potential excessive water consumption.

There are currently more than 150 Continente Bom Dia stores in Portugal, where around 7000 people work.
