CONTINENTE OPENS ITS FIRST STORE OF 2024 IN MARCO DE CANAVESES
Marco de Canaveses has, as of today, the municipality’s newest Continente Modelo store, featuring 1999 m2 of sales area and 360 parking spaces, with 4 charging stations for electric vehicles. Located on Rua Amália Rodrigues, Continente Modelo Marco de Canaveses has around 60 employees and is open daily from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm, following MC’s proximity stores’ expansion policies in urban locations and neighbourhoods. In this space, customers will also be able to count on four other MC stores such as ‘Wells’, ‘Zu’, ‘Note’ and ‘Bagga’, totalling an investment of €10 million. This opening reinforces the brand’s commitment to the Porto district, which now has 70 stores.

The opening of the space is marked with a 10% discount on Continente Card campaign, throughout the store, between the 11th and 14th of January, which accumulates with current promotions.
“In 2024 we will reinforce our commitment, which we have maintained for over 38 years, and this first opening represents our desire to be closer to families, in this case Marco de Canaveses’, with a close and quality service and a range of thousands of products, which include our private labels and also the brands that usually make up the basket of choices of those who visit us.”, explains Store Director, Celso Magalhães, who has been with MC for 38 years.
On the environmental front, the photovoltaic solar panels on the roof and in the car park stand out, which represent around 45% of the store's total consumption, guaranteeing its self-sufficiency for a period of more than 8 hours on a day with good solar radiation. The store also features 100% LED low consumption light bulbs for lighting, and equipment to control and reduce excessive water consumption.
To mark its arrival in the region, Missão Continente gifted shopping carts filled with essential goods to the institutions sponsored by the new store: ‘Adegril’ –Grilo’s Development Association, ‘CERCIMARCO’, Portuguese Red Cross, ‘ANIMARCO’ – Animal Friends Association and the S. Romão Carvalhosa’s Social and Parish Centre. Missão Continente will permanently support these institutions, through daily food surpluses from the new Continente Modelo Marco de Canaveses store.
At Continente Modelo Marco de Canaveses, consumers can also use reusable bags when purchasing fruit, vegetables or bakery products, as well as reusable boxes for delicatessen and take-away products. Also noteworthy are the fresh and seasonal products always available, from fruits and vegetables, to the bakery, butcher and fishmonger that the store offers, with national products.
