CONTINENTE OPENS ITS 1ST STORE IN OLIVEIRA DE FRADES
Oliveira de Frades has, as of today, the first Continente store in the municipality featuring 1025 m2 of sales area and 60 parking spaces, with 2 charging stations for electric vehicles. Located on Avenida da Universidade de Coimbra, Continente Bom Dia Oliveira de Frades has 26 employees and operates daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, following MC’s proximity stores’ expansion policies in urban locations and neighbourhoods. This opening reinforces the brand’s commitment to the Viseu district, which now has its 8th store.

The opening of the space is marked with a 10% 10% discount on Continente Card campaign, throughout the store, between the 15th and 17th of December, which accumulates with current promotions.
“With this new Continente store we want to be closer to the Oliveira de Frades’ families, with a close and quality service and a range featuring thousands of products, which include our private label and also the brands that usually make up the basket of choices of those who visits us. We have been making a positive impact on our customers for over 38 years and we want to keep fulfilling this mission every day,” explains Store Director, Verónica Oliveira, who has been with MC for 10 years.
On the environmental front, the photovoltaic solar panels on the roof and in the car park stand out, which represent around 45% of the store's total consumption, guaranteeing its self-sufficiency for a period of more than 8 hours on a day with good solar radiation. The store also features 100% LED low consumption light bulbs for lighting, and equipment to control and reduce excessive water consumption.
At Continente Bom Dia Oliveira de Frades, consumers can also use reusable bags when purchasing fruit, vegetables or bakery products, or reusable boxes for delicatessen and take-away products. Also noteworthy are the fresh and seasonal products always available, from fruits and vegetables, to the bakery, butcher and fishmonger that the store offers, with national products.
There are currently more than 150 Continente Bom Dia stores in Portugal, where more than 7000 people work.
By the end of 2023, Continente will invest a total of 35 million euros in the opening of 16 proximity stores, which represent the creation of 512 jobs and occupy a total sales area of 18,000 m2.
