We believe we can play a significant role in responding to the climate emergency, and we therefore aim to ensure the decarbonisation and adaptation of MC's operations in line with the 1.5°C scenario.

Performance

In the last year we maintained our efforts to promote efficiency and flexibility in energy consumption, creating conditions for a better monitoring and management of consumption and investing more than 8 million euros/year in the decarbonisation of our energy matrix.

Azambuja Photovoltaic Power Plant

Decarbonisation of the Energy Matrix

In 2020, we highlight the investment in the new warehouse at the Azambuja logistics hub where we installed the largest photovoltaic power plant for self-consumption of electricity in the country, with more than 6,900 photovoltaic modules. This plant has an installed power of around 3 MWp and an annual production of around 4 GWh.

Sustainable Mobility

Plug & Charge

Our Mobility Roadmap was designed to respond to the diversity of journeys made by our employees in a constantly evolving context. We highlight the expansion of the Plug & Charge network, the electric vehicle charging service, which ended the year with 432 spaces in 99 stores – 30 more stores than in 2023 – consolidating itself as one of the main charging networks nationwide.

Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework

Commitment to integrating sustainability

MC has established its Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework, reaffirming its commitment to integrating sustainability into the company's financial strategy. This tool includes key environmental and social performance indicators (KPIs), namely the reduction of GHG emissions in operations and the representation of women in leadership positions, promoting management aligned with our long-term goals.
