GOSH! BRITISH PLANT-BASED FOOD BRAND DEBUTS IN PORTUGAL
Gosh!, a brand of products made with 100% natural plant-based ingredients, debuts in Portugal, exclusively in Continente stores across the country, with 8 references (5 refrigerated and 3 frozen), following national and international consumer trends.
Beetroot burgers, sweet potato Falafel and Veggie bites (mini sausages) are some of the Gosh! varieties, with a RRP of €3.99. The products stand out for being rich in fiber, a source of protein and low in saturated fats. In addition, Gosh! products only use natural ingredients – “there is no ingredient in our products that you don’t know about” is the brand’s promise - and they feature 100% recyclable packaging.
In Portugal, according to the ‘The Green Revolution 2021 Portugal’ study, by the consultancy Lantern, adherence to the “veggie diet” - which includes flexitarians, vegetarians and vegans - has registered a growing evolution in the country. In 2021 there were more than 1 million veggies in the country (34% more than in 2019), and 12% of the Portuguese adult population is veggie.

Sonae reinforced its position in the natural plant-based food industry with the acquisition of Claybell Limited - the company that owns the Gosh! brand -, in September 2021. This acquisition is in line with the group’s portfolio management strategy, focused on innovative companies in growing sectors related to its core business (food).
