Continente opens new store in Barcelos
With Cafeteria service and a Well's, Continente opens today the second store of the brand in the municipality of Barcelos, which translates into an investment of about € 6.5M. The new Barcelos’ Bom Dia store, with 1500 m2 of sales area, is located on Avenida São José - Quinta do Benfeito and creates 59 jobs in the region.
Open daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, the store offers a range with thousands of products, including those of the Continente brand and the brands that usually make up the basket of Portuguese choices, reinforcing the brand’s bet in the district of Braga, which now has 17 Continente spaces.
Continente Bom Dia Barcelos, like all new stores of the brand, includes self-consumption photovoltaic stations, in order to minimize the space’s carbon footprint.
The opening of the space is marked with a 10% discount on Continente Card campaign, across the entire store, between May 13th and 16th.
We highlight the fresh products available, from fruits and vegetables, to the bakery, butcher and fishmonger that the store will make available, with products from the region. Here, consumers will find an area very similar to traditional markets with a very comfortable and contemporary environment, where all information about the products’ origin and characteristics will be available.
The local population and institutions in the region will be able to count on Missão Continente’s social intervention initiatives, which are now promoted by this new store. Continente Bom Dia Barcelos will support the associations ‘Casa do Povo do Alvito’, ‘Obra Social das Franciscanas Missionárias de Maria - O Viveiro’ and the ‘Venerável Ordem Terceira de S. Francisco - Casa Menino Deus’ with their daily food surpluses. In the new store’s area of influence, there is also support for 5 institutions * with a focus on fighting food waste, fighting hunger, promoting healthy eating and environmental sustainability. In the environmental front, it is also worth mentioning the availability of equipment where consumers can deposit used cooking oils, used batteries and cork stoppers, which will later be taken for recycling. Consumers also have at their disposal a variety of Reusable Bags in the fresh produce area and next to the cashiers. In terms of lighting, the store has 100% LED low consumption light bulbs, and also equipment to control and reduce any potential excessive water consumption.
