CONTINENTE OPENS ITS 1ST STORE IN VILA POUCA DE AGUIAR
Vila Pouca de Aguiar has, as of today, the 1st Continente store in the municipality, featuring 1109 m2 of sales area and 68 parking spaces. Located in Lugar dos Lavadouros, Continente Bom Dia Vila Pouca de Aguiar has 25 employees and operates daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, following MC’s proximity stores expansion policies in urban locations and neighbourhoods. In the parking lot there are also two charging stations for electric vehicles and recycling deposits for used bottles and cork stoppers.
On the environmental front, we highlight the photovoltaic solar panels on the roof and in the car park, which represent around 45% of the store’s total consumption, guaranteeing its self-sufficiency for a period of more than 8 hours on a day with good solar radiation. The store also features 100% LED low consumption light bulbs for lighting, and equipment to control and reduce excessive water consumption.

The opening of the space is marked with a 10% discount on Continente Card campaign, throughout the store, between November 29th and December 3rd, which combines with current promotions.
“With the opening of this new Continente store we want to be even closer to our customers, with quality products at affordable prices, reinforcing our connection with this region and with the people of Vila Pouca de Aguiar. For over 37 years, Continente has placed its customers at the centre of its operations, providing them with the best value proposition and brand experience,” explains Store Director, Mónica Pinheiro, who has been with the company for 15 years.
The new store offers a range of thousands of products, which includes Continente’s private label and the brands that usually make up the basket of Portuguese choices. This opening reinforces the brand’s commitment to the Vila Real district, which now has its 5th store.
To highlight its arrival in the region, Missão Continente gifted shopping carts filled with essential goods to the institutions sponsored by the new store: ‘Nossa Senhora do Extremo Social Centre’, ‘Santa Senhorinha de Vilarelho Social Centre’ and ‘Pronimal Platform’ (Vila Real’s Animal Protection Association). Missão Continente will permanently support these institutions, through daily food surpluses from the new Continente Bom Dia Vila Pouca de Aguiar store.
At Continente Bom Dia Vila Pouca de Aguiar, consumers can also use reusable bags when purchasing fruit, vegetables or bakery products or reusable boxes for delicatessen and take-away products. Also noteworthy are the fresh and seasonal products always available, from fruits and vegetables, to the bakery, butcher and fishmonger that the store offers, with national products.
There are currently more than 150 Continente Bom Dia stores in Portugal, where more than 7000 people work.
By the end of 2023, Continente will invest a total of 35 million euros in the opening of 16 proximity stores, which represent the creation of 512 jobs and occupy a total sales area of 18,000 m2.
Paredes, Coruche, Largo do Rato, Arroios, Vila Pouca de Aguiar, Gafanha de Nazaré, Alcácer do Sal, Arganil, Bolhão (Porto), Fajões, Oliveira de Frades, São Pedro da Cova, Alcanena, Leça da Palmeira, Pousada de Saramagos and Pevidém are the new stores’ locations.
