“Todos por Todos”: The biggest solidarity campaign in Portugal
The "Todos por Todos" (All for All) campaign by Missão Continente raises more than 1.2 million euros.
One million solidarity food vouchers and more than 460 thousand euros in value added phone calls and bank transfers, of which 250 thousand were donated by the Laps Foundation (one of the initiative’s main partners), is the final balance of Missão Continente’s "Todos por Todos" campaign. In total, the initiative, in partnership with TVI and the Portuguese Football Federation, managed to bring together more than 1.2M € that were added up to the 150 tonnes of food goods initially offered by Missão Continente, to help those who need it the most.
The solidarity vouchers initiative took place in all Continente stores nationwide and Missão Continente has been delivering food and donations to the Portuguese Red Cross (CVP), the Food Emergency Network and the Audio-visual Union, which will bring them to the thousands of families that are currently experiencing serious economic difficulties due to the pandemic.
The "Todos por Todos" campaign also had the mission of supporting and promoting Portuguese culture and artistic activity, deeply affected by the pandemic, through the promotion of concerts throughout the country. For this purpose, Missão Continente brought together 11 national artists and bands - Jorge Palma, Salvador Sobral, GNR, Clã, Marta Ren, Fernando Daniel, Bárbara Tinoco, Jimmy P, Camané, Capicua and Calema - and scheduled shows from the 8th to the 17th of January, in several venues across the country, whose tickets were awarded to the customers who bought the most vouchers. The winner names can be found on the "Todos por Todos" campaign’s website.
Tiago Simões, Marketing Director at Sonae MC says that “the year 2020 will never be forgotten and there is still a long way to go before we regain a normal lifestyle. If the pandemic affected everyone's daily lives in general, it severely impacted thousands of families who were faced with unemployment and serious financial needs. Faced with these situations of tragedy, the Portuguese once again and unequivocally revealed their generosity. It is moving to be able announce this unprecedented fundraising that will reach thousands of families, resulting from the contribution of the Portuguese and the donations from Missão Continente. We will always be aware of our responsibility towards civil society and we will always act in favour of improving the living conditions of all Portuguese”.
Since the arrival of the new coronavirus in Portugal, Missão Continente has responded to numerous requests for support, distributing thousands of food, hygiene and personal protection items, among others, to hundreds of entities including hospitals, municipalities, security forces and solidarity institutions, with the aim of helping not only the most vulnerable and in a situation of illness, but also health professionals and civil protection agents who remain at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19.
