CONTINENTE OPENS 1ST STORE IN POUSADA DE SARAMAGOS
Pousada de Saramagos, in Vila Nova de Famalicão, has, as of today, the first Continente store in the parish featuring 1617 m2, 80 parking spaces and will have 4 charging stations for electric vehicles. Located on Avenida da Riopele, Lugar de Veigas EN 206, Continente Bom Dia Pousada de Saramagos has 60 employees and is open daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm, following MC’s proximity stores’ expansion policies in urban locations and neighbourhoods. This opening reinforces the brand’s commitment to the district of Braga, which now has its 18th store.

The opening of the space is marked with a 10% 10% discount on Continente Card campaign, throughout the store, between the 20th and 24th of December, which accumulates with current promotions.
“The opening of the store in Pousada de Saramagos represents Continente’s commitment to the proximity to our customers, always placing them at the centre of the business, to provide them with the best value proposition and brand experience, through our stores. We want to offer quality products at affordable prices to families and continue to receive the affection we have had for over 38 years,” explains Store Director, Rita de Azevedo, who has been with MC for 20 years.
To mark its arrival in the region, Missão Continente gifted shopping carts filled with essential goods to the institutions sponsored by the new store: the ‘Requião’s Parish Social Centre’, the ‘S. Martinho de Pousada de Saramagos Parish Social Centre’ and the ‘Guimarães’ Animal Institution Society for the Protection of Animals’.
On the environmental front, the photovoltaic solar panels on the roof and in the car park stand out, which represent around 45% of the store's total consumption, guaranteeing its self-sufficiency for a period of more than 8 hours on a day with good solar radiation. The store also features 100% LED low consumption light bulbs for lighting, and equipment to control and reduce excessive water consumption.
Consumers can also use reusable bags when purchasing fruit, vegetables or bakery products, or reusable boxes for delicatessen and take-away products. Also noteworthy are the fresh and seasonal products always available, from fruits and vegetables, to the bakery, butcher and fishmonger that the store offers, with national products.
There are currently more than 170 Continente Bom Dia stores in Portugal, where more than 7000 people work.
