CONTINENTE BETS ON AWARDED CHEESES

During the month of December, Continente is betting on a wide range of national and foreign cheeses, with emphasis on cheeses awarded in internationally recognized competitions, so that the Portuguese can enjoy them during their festivities.

Continente managed, this year, exclusively, to make available a limited amount of ‘Rogue River Blue’ cheese “the best cheese in the world 2019/2020” awarded by the ‘World Cheese Awards’, one of the most recognized specialty competitions in the world. This blue cheese is wrapped in Syrah grape leaves from a local vineyard and soaked in pear liqueur, and will only be available in 5 Continente stores: Matosinhos, Cascais, Gaia Shopping, Colombo and Telheiras.

The exclusive cheese range from ‘Haute Fromagerie’, a judicious choice by Roland Barthélemy, one of the greatest specialists in the world and president of the International Confraternity of Master Cheesemakers, is available at Continente stores in Cascais, Oeiras, Telheiras, Colombo, Vasco da Gama, Guia, Matosinhos, Gaia Shopping, Braga and Leiria.

Another of the novelties is the exclusive sale, by Continente, of limited edition ‘PDO Manchego Gran Reserve 12 Months’ cheese, available in 22 Continente stores, as well as the internationally Award-winning PDO 5 cheeses plate (Tomme de Brebis, Maroilles AOP, Bleu d' Auvergne AOP, Crottin de Chèvre and St Nectaire Laitier AOP), which is presented in tray format, ready to go to the table, for the price of €9.99.

‘Spoon Gorgonzola Cheese’ (“al cucchiaio”) by Arrigoni, a creamy blue cheese from Lombardy, is also available at Continente stores’ counters. Also by the Arrigoni brand, there is, in packaged format, the ‘gorgonzola dolce’, ‘piccante’ and ‘lucífero’.

Another highlight is the ‘Santiago’ traditional Portuguese cheeses, awarded with 6 prizes in the ‘World Cheese Awards’, and which can also be found in Continente stores.

The wide range of cheeses available at Continente stores can be found in ‘A Nossa Queijaria’, an informative platform with access to characteristics such as the type of milk, type of paste, intensity of flavour and tasting notes on the cheeses, as well as suggestions for consumption and harmonization.
