In partnership with social economy organisations, we want to contribute our skills and direct our resources towards initiatives that support the most disadvantaged Communities, contributing to the eradication of poverty in its different forms.

2020 was a year that exposed the fragilities of our society, due to the social and economic crisis caused by COVID-19. Within the scope of the activities developed, MC's support to the Community materialised in about €12 million donated.

Never Give Up and Everyone for Everyone Campaigns

Supporting Communities

In a year as demanding as 2020, we have strengthened our support for the most fragile communities. Under the motto Never Give Up we promoted one of the largest national campaigns to collect donations from the Portuguese people, to support the neediest families. With the campaign All for All we ensured the largest collection of food items to support families in economic difficulties due to the pandemic through the Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa (CVP), Food Emergency Network and Audiovisual Union.

Baby Well's Kit

Supporting Natality

In 2020, Well's strengthened for the third consecutive year its commitment to promoting birth rates in Portugal by continuing the project "For a Future with more babies". Through this project, it offered Baby Well's kits to around 50% of the babies born in Portugal during this period. It also supported the first year of life of 50 babies from needy families, covering all their hygiene, food and childcare needs.

Somos ZULIDÁRIOS

Supporting the Animal Cause

ZU's "Somos Zulidários" programme includes a set of social initiatives aimed at promoting the comfort of dogs and cats in the care of associations. In 2020, the first action of the programme consisted of the sale of the "ZUlidarity Bag", which, when reused on purchases in ZU shops, enables the Customer to contribute towards a donation of the brand to an animal welfare and support association. Being made of 100% cotton, it also allows reuse and a reduction in the number of plastic bags in our shops.
