Corona Virus - Covid 19

Sonae MC is closely following the General Health Directorate’s information and guidance. Our priority is to ensure the safety of our customers and employees and as such we have been implementing, for all, a set of informational and preventive measures on this topic.

Our priority is to guarantee both customers and employees’ safety.

  • We are keeping the same opening hours of our stores, seeking to dilute possible peaks of people gathering, and thus ensure greater security for our customers and store teams. Check here the schedule for the store of your choice.
  • For the safety of our customers and employees, we are regulating entry and exit in our stores in accordance with “Diário da República’s” ordinance no. 71/2020. The number of customers allowed in each store will be controlled and should not exceed 4 customers per 100 m2. We are already applying that control measure and limiting entry whenever justified.
  • We have implemented measures to safeguard safety distances between our customers, which are duly marked in stores (for instance, next to service counters and cashiers).
  • We are prioritising the supply of basic necessities, so in other types of products, replacement and supply may not be as fast.
  • We have not changed the products’ prices or the planned promotions.
  • We are not applying measures to restrict the number of products that each customer can purchase, as we are not predicting stockouts in essential goods.
  • We remind our customers of the means of payment available in our stores, which do not imply the use of the payment terminal (TPA): payment by MBWay, payment through the Cartão Continente App – Continente Pay and the Continente Siga App.
  • In Continente Online, we are at maximum capacity levels so that we can continue to serve the Portuguese. Additionally, following the health entities’ recommendations to contain COVID-19, we are implementing temporary changes to the service:
    • Home deliveries will now be carried out at the Client’s door, with no entry of our employees on site.
    • There will be no collection of plastic bags from previous orders, what usually happens under our recycling policy. However, we will credit on Continente Card the value of the bags delivered, as if you had made the full return of the bags from the previous order.
    • We also recommend that you pay for your order with a Credit Card, MBWay or PayPal, in order to avoid payment upon delivery.
    • You will receive an SMS the day before the chosen delivery date, reminding you of the delivery schedule. You can always check your order details in the “history” option in your account.
    • For Click & Go orders to be collected at Continente stores, payment on pick up options will not be available.
  • With regard to the protection of employees, we are following the rules defined by the World Health Organization

Our priority is to guarantee the safety of both customers and employees.

Recommendations

When sneezing or coughing, cover your nose and mouth with tissue paper or your forearm.

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based solution.

Avoid close contact with people with respiratory infection.

The World Health Organization does not advise

the use of masks by healthy population

Incorrect mask placement voids its protection

A Masks can lead to the accumulation of viruses

Hand contact with contaminated masks leads to the spread of the disease

All of this can generate a false sense of security.
Masks should only be used by the infected population so as not to contaminate those around them.

Follow the GHD’s recommendations and remember that the most effective measure to protect yourself is correct hand sanitation.

There is no evidence that the use of surgical gloves is effective

in preventing the spread of the virus.

If you choose to use them, correct use of surgical gloves is essential, that is:

· You should not touch your face while wearing the gloves

· You must disinfect and replace gloves frequently

· You should wash or disinfect your hands immediately after glove disposal, never reusing gloves

By not using surgical gloves correctly, there will be a false sense of security that may neglect what truly prevents the spread of the virus:

the correct sanitation or disinfection of your hands.

Did you return from any of the affected areas?

Have you had contact with an infected patient?
