We intend to publicize new products and make customers aware of the benefits of healthy and sustainable eating, promoting, whenever possible, national products. We expect a reaction of great interest from our Customers. The Portuguese have been changing their diet habits and that can be seen in the change in consumption patterns. The consumption of insects is a global trend, with very interesting nutritional properties and lower production costs, in addition to reducing the environmental impact<\/em>\u201d, explains Paula Jord\u00e3o, Commercial Director at Sonae MC.\r\n\r\n\u2018Tasty Mealworms\u2019 snacks are dehydrated insects seasoned with cayenne pepper or sea salt, rich in protein and a source of fiber. In addition to being a quick, practical and nutritious snack, these can be added as a topping in salads, soups and pastas.\r\n\r\nThe protein bars \u2013 \u2018Mealworm Bites\u2019 &#8211; are made from 100% natural ingredients and are a source of protein and rich in fiber. Available in chocolate and almond; fig and orange; Apple and cinnamon; and peanut butter and honey flavours.\r\n\r\nThe flour, made 100% from Tenebrio molitor, is rich in protein and a source of fiber and can be used to enrich bread, biscuits, cakes, pancakes and smoothies recipes.\r\n\r\nInsects, consumed by about a third of the world&#8217;s population, constitute a sustainable protein source, are rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. Note that these products may cause allergic reactions in consumers with a known allergy to shellfish (and shellfish products) as well as to dust mites.
