{"id":8117,"date":"2020-11-02T16:40:07","date_gmt":"2020-11-02T16:40:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mc.sonae.pt\/?p=8117"},"modified":"2020-12-07T16:53:23","modified_gmt":"2020-12-07T16:53:23","slug":"continente-exclusive-wines-with-over-100-medals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mc.sonae.pt\/en\/news\/continente-exclusive-wines-with-over-100-medals\/","title":{"rendered":"Continente exclusive wines with over 100 medals"},"content":{"rendered":"<strong>There were 57 Continente exclusive wines that, this year, won more than 100 medals in prestigious national and international wine competitions, among 48 gold medals, 36 silver and 22 bronze.\r\n\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7905 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/mc.sonae.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/destaque-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"500\" \/>\r\n<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe wines, developed in partnership with national producers and for sale at Continente stores and online, stood out in competitions such as the \u2018Wine Masters Challenge\u2019, the \u2018Os Melhores Vinhos do D\u00e3o\u2019 contest, and the Set\u00fabal Peninsula Wine Contest, in Portugal, the \u2018International Wine &amp; Spirit Competition\u2019, in London, and the \u2018Sommelier Wine Awards\u2019, also in the United Kingdom, the World Competition in Brussels, the \u2018Challenge International du Vin\u2019 and the \u2018Muscats Du Monde\u2019, in France, the \u2018Berliner Wine Trophy\u2019, in Berlin , and the \u2018Mundus Vini Spring \/ Summer Tasting\u2019, also in Germany, the Austrian Wine Challenge, in Austria, the China Wine and Spirits Awards, in China, \u2018Prodexpo\u2019, in Russia, and the \u2018PLMA Salute to Excellence\u2019, in the Netherlands.\r\n\r\nOne of the most relevant distinctions was the first prize awarded to the \u2018Moscatel Roxo de Set\u00fabal Ven\u00e2ncio da Costa Lima family reserve\u2019, in the international competition \u201cMuscats du Monde\u201d, considered the best muscat in the competition.\r\n\r\nOf the 34 wines that were awarded gold medals, the highlights are \u2018Castello D&#8217;Alba Doc Douro Red\u2019 and \u2018Porrais Signature Doc Douro Red\u2019, in the contest \u201cBerliner Wine Trophy\u201d (summer edition 2020); \u2018Vinha Maria Premium Doc D\u00e3o Red wines\u2019, from Globalwines, \u2018Rovisco Pais Regional Reserve Set\u00fabal Pen\u00ednsula Red\u2019, from Adega de Peg\u00f5es, in the \u201cMundus Vini Spring Tasting 2020\u201d contest and \u2018Contemporal Port 10 Years\u2019, produced by Quinta &amp; Vineyard Bottlers in \u201cMundus Vini Summer Tasting 2020\u201d. And yet, the \u2018Pedra do Gato Premium Doc D\u00e3o Red wines\u2019, from Casa da Passarella, in the contest &#8220;The Best D\u00e3o Wines 2020&#8221;, the \u2018Vinha Valentina Regional Signature Reserve Set\u00fabal Pen\u00ednsula Red\u2019, from Casa Ermelinda Freitas, in the &#8220;China Wine and Spirits Awards 2020 \u201d, \u2018Vidigueira Premium Doc Alentejo White\u2019, from Adega da Vidigueira, at the\u201c Wine Masters Challenge 2020 \u201dand \u2018Talabira do Algarve Premium Regional Algarve Red\u2019, produced by Casa Santos Lima, in the\u201c Challenge International Du Vin 2020 \u201dcontest.\r\n\r\nAwarded wines can also be identified at Continente\u2019s Wine Cellar, a platform where the most suitable wines are found for each gastronomic specialty, with filters ranging from price, to current discounts, including the type of wine, region, intensity and guard type.<a href=\"https:\/\/garrafeira.continente.pt\/?utm_source=sonaemc.com&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=sonaemc&amp;utm_content=artigo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Continente\u2019s Wine Cellar<\/a> is associated with the Continente online store, allowing immediate purchase of the choices made.\r\n\r\nPaula Ferro, Beverage Business Unit Director at Sonae MC, stresses that \u201cthese Continente exclusive wines\u2019 distinctions reveal that strong partnerships with producers and a focus on the quality of wines selected by Continente\u2019s oenologists, are essential to continue to expand the number of awards and medals like these.\u201d\r\n\r\nThis year, 44 new wine producers joined the Continente Producers Club (CPC), demonstrating the sector\u2019s dynamism and quality.
