{"id":7802,"date":"2020-10-12T11:15:12","date_gmt":"2020-10-12T11:15:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mc.sonae.pt\/?p=7802"},"modified":"2020-10-14T11:17:53","modified_gmt":"2020-10-14T11:17:53","slug":"missao-continente-and-cascaishopping-help-families-in-need","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mc.sonae.pt\/en\/news\/missao-continente-and-cascaishopping-help-families-in-need\/","title":{"rendered":"Miss\u00e3o Continente and CascaiShopping help families in need"},"content":{"rendered":"Miss\u00e3o Continente<\/a> and CascaiShopping<\/a> are supporting the Municipality of Cascais with the offer of \u2018D\u00e1 Cards\u2019 (Give Cards) to needy families in the municipality, so they can purchase basic food, cleaning and hygiene items at Continente stores.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nDuring the inauguration of the new Resource and Shelter Centre for Homeless, at Tapada da Adroana, in Alcabideche, which was attended by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the Mayor of Cascais, Carlos Carreiras, insisted in highlighting the municipality\u2019s social action, which has had the support of several partners, such as Miss\u00e3o Continente and Cascaishopping.\r\n\r\n\u201cWe launched, in the middle of a pandemic, support for those who need it most. So that no one is left behind\u201d, said the Mayor. \u201cWe have 49 Solidarity Boxes installed on our streets, which are supplied by the good will of the people of Cascais and by the 14 Solidarity Houses that are installed in the municipality\u2019s supermarkets and hypermarkets. Between July and September, we obtained almost 16 tonnes of food donations that are being sent to the families that need it the most. A remarkable effort by civil society, by our companies and by the municipality to keep us all in the same boat\u201d, adds Carlos Carreiras.\r\n\r\nDuring the pandemic period that the country is going through, the Cascais City Council also identified families in the municipality that are in a vulnerable situation. Over the next few weeks, the Solidarity Boxes\u2019 contents will be complemented by another 150 thousand euros in \u2018D\u00e1 Cards\u2019, of which 25 thousand euros are donated by Miss\u00e3o Continente and another 25 thousand euros by the CascaiShopping<\/a> shopping center. \u201cI thank Continente for joining this army of goodwill\u201d, concludes the mayor.\r\nSince the arrival of the new coronavirus in Portugal, Miss\u00e3o Continente has responded to numerous requests for support, distributing thousands of food and hygiene products, among others, to dozens of entities including hospitals, municipalities and solidarity institutions, with the aim of helping not only the most vulnerable and in a situation of illness, but also health professionals and civil protection agents who remain at the frontline in the fight against COVID-19.\r\n\r\nSince the beginning of the pandemic, when Food Distribution was identified as a critical service by the Government, Continente and Miss\u00e3o Continente reiterated the commitment to continue to \u2018Alimentar Portugal\u2019 (Feed Portugal).\r\n\r\nThe Cascais City Council supports 4755 families, in a universe of more than 14 thousand people, and manages 8 food emergency support programs, in an annual effort exceeding 450 thousand euros.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Miss\u00e3o Continente and CascaiShopping are supporting the Municipality of Cascais with the offer of \u2018D\u00e1 Cards\u2019 (Give Cards) to needy […]","protected":false},"author":15,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[178,161,184,159,182,175,166],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-7802","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-campaign","category-continente-mission","category-covid-19","category-digital-marketing","category-missao-continente-news","category-news","category-social-responsability"],"yoast_head":"\nMiss\u00e3o Continente and CascaiShopping help families in need -
