The initiative aims to promote innovation in the sector.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe Sonae group\u2019s company is looking for solutions that significantly impact the retail value chain, with emphasis on e-commerce, logistics, health and wellness services, store operations and sustainability. Also relevant are new concepts that help create synergies and promote co-creation, and that take Sonae MC\u2019s brands (such as Continente, Go Natural or Well\u2019s) to the next level.\r\n\r\nUntil June 30th, interested parties can submit applications.<\/a> The chosen projects will be announced until July 31st and will start collaborating with BIT, Sonae MC’s information systems area, later this year.\r\n\r\nAmong the technologies valued in the \u201cDisrupt Retail – Call for Technology by Sonae MC\u201d initiative is artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, Internet of Things, robotics and blockchain.\r\n\r\nThe selected start-ups will benefit from monitoring by Sonae MC technology and retail specialists and from the possibility of using an incubation ecosystem with more than 3 million customers spread over around 1,000 stores. The initiative also gives start-ups visibility to the Sonae IM investment unit, which includes Bright Pixel.\r\n\r\nMiguel \u00c1guas, CIO at Sonae MC, states that: \u201cAt Sonae MC we believe that cooperation and co-creation are important sources of innovation and, every day, we are inspired and challenged by our customers and partners, to do better. With Disrupt Retail, we want to increase our proximity to the technological ecosystem and learn about solutions that can transform our value proposition. We realized that start-ups and R&D centres, despite this challenging global context, need to carry on their activity. Our goal is to continue to enhance these relationships and design the future of retail.\u201d\r\n\r\nIn addition to start-ups, the program is also accessible to research and development centres, as well as to companies and agencies that present solutions mature enough to be tested.\r\n\r\nMiguel \u00c1guas concludes that \u201cthis initiative allows us to be close to the most creative and qualified technological environments. We will provide a real testing context, mentoring opportunities and co-development of solutions.
