{"id":16035,"date":"2023-11-09T22:42:48","date_gmt":"2023-11-09T22:42:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mc.sonae.pt\/?p=16035"},"modified":"2024-01-02T22:45:44","modified_gmt":"2024-01-02T22:45:44","slug":"continente-recovers-auto-palace-building-in-rato","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mc.sonae.pt\/en\/mc-sonae\/continente-recovers-auto-palace-building-in-rato\/","title":{"rendered":"CONTINENTE RECOVERS \u2018AUTO-PALACE\u2019 BUILDING IN RATO"},"content":{"rendered":"<strong>MC rehabilitated the mythical \u2018Auto-Palace\u2019 building, located near Rato, in Lisbon, with an investment of 4.5 million euros, allowing the restoration of the entire historic iron and glass front on this Public Interest Property, built in beginning of the 20<sup>th<\/sup> century.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nCustomers of the new Continente Bom Dia Largo do Rato store, which opened today in that location, will be able to admire the art nouveau stained glass windows commissioned in 1907, from the painter and master stained glass artist Cl\u00e1udio Martins, and which adorned, on the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> floor, the reading hall and the management office of the old automobile cathedral, in Lisbon. MC also recovered the stained glass windows, which feature a car theme, framed by a tangle of floral motifs.\r\n\r\n<strong><em>Continente Bom Dia Largo do Rato images<\/em><\/strong> <em>Link<\/em>\r\n\r\nThe new Continente store, featuring around 1000 m2, creates 36 jobs in the region and reinforces the presence of Continente Bom Dia\u2019s proximity stores, in Lisbon. Open daily from 8 am to 10 pm, the store offers cafeteria, bakery and take-away services, has 37 parking spaces, 4 for electric vehicles and 10 cashiers, including 6 Self-Checkouts, for more autonomous purchasing.\r\n\r\nFor the Store Director, Samuel Chaves, who has been at MC for 16 years, \u201c<em>this is another of Continente\u2019s commitments to the rehabilitation of buildings that are part of the city of Lisbon\u2019s history. We want to be even closer to our customers and this is a way of \u2018giving back\u2019 the city\u2019s heritage to its inhabitants and visitors, so that they can enjoy the space, at the same time as they do their shopping<\/em>\u201d.\r\n\r\nTo highlight its arrival in the region, Miss\u00e3o Continente gifted shopping carts filled with essential goods to the institutions sponsored by the new store: \u2018AVA &#8211; Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Vida Aut\u00f3noma\u2019 (Autonomous Life Association); \u2018Centro Popular D\u2019Espie Miranda\u2019 (Popular Centre); \u2018Casa da Estrela\u2019 &#8211; Youth Promotion Centre; and Animallife.
