Almirante Reis, in Lisbon, \u2018giving back\u2019 the property to the city and its inhabitants with the opening of the new Continente Bom Dia Rua da Palma store. The store opened on the 29th<\/sup> of July, featuring a sales area of \u200b\u200baround 727m2<\/sup> and a Wells store, preserving the heritage values \u200b\u200bof the historic building that dates from 1933 and is representative of Art Nouveau architecture. The commercial space has 21 parking spaces on the top floor and is open daily from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nAccording to Continente Rua da Palma store\u2019s Director, Miguel Munoz, who has been with MC for 8 years, \u201cwe want to meet the needs of our customers who, increasingly, favour a close and convenient service. We also want to help make living in this neighbourhood more dynamic, restoring a historic building that is very important to the city of Lisbon, maintaining its identity and ensuring its continued use.<\/em>\u201d\r\n\r\nThe history of the new store\u2019s building dates back to 1887, to the \u2018Real Colyseu de Lisboa\u2019, the theatre-circus where the most extraordinary attractions of the time were announced and where the first film session in the country was broadcast, at \u2018Cinema Colossal\u2019, in June 1896. The \u2018Real Colyseu de Lisboa\u2019 would close in 1925, and in its place the \u2018Auto-Lys\u2019 was built (in 1933), classified as a \u201cProperty of Public Interest\u201d and an emblem of the city\u2019s modernist architecture. By recovering the property, the brand\u2019s objective is to give it a new life and history in which everyone can be a part of.\r\n\r\n\u2018Refood Santo Ant\u00f3nio\u2019, \u2018S\u00e3o Jorge de Arroios\u2019 Social and Parish Centre\u2019, \u2018Sol \u2013 Support Association for Children with HIV\/Aids\u2019 and \u2018Animalife\u2019 will be permanently supported by Miss\u00e3o Continente, through the donation of the new Continente Bom Dia Rua da Palma store\u2019s daily food surpluses.\r\n\r\nAt Continente Bom Dia Rua da Palma, consumers can use reusable bags when buying fruit, vegetables or bakery products and use their own containers for cold cuts and take-away services. Also noteworthy are the fresh and seasonal products that are always available, from fruits and vegetables, to the bakery, butchery and fishmonger that the store has available, with national products, as well as the possibility for customers to benefit from the advantages provided by the Continente Card.\r\n\r\nThere are currently 146 Continente Bom Dia stores in Portugal, where around 6,800 people work.\r\n\r\nOn the environmental front, the new store also features two parking spaces for charging electric vehicles (in the upper floor parking lot), and the availability of equipment where customers can deposit used cooking oil, used batteries and cork stoppers, which will later be taken for recycling.
