{"id":11042,"date":"2021-12-07T14:43:28","date_gmt":"2021-12-07T14:43:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mc.sonae.pt\/?p=11042"},"modified":"2021-12-07T17:46:24","modified_gmt":"2021-12-07T17:46:24","slug":"missao-continente-school-over-70000-enrolled-students","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mc.sonae.pt\/en\/news\/missao-continente-school-over-70000-enrolled-students\/","title":{"rendered":"MISS\u00c3O CONTINENTE SCHOOL: OVER 70,000 ENROLLED STUDENTS"},"content":{"rendered":"<strong>More than 70,000 students from 655 schools, from all districts of Mainland Portugal and Islands, are enrolled in the 6<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/missao.continente.pt\/escola-missao-continente\/sobre-a-escola\/\">Miss\u00e3o Continente School<\/a> educational program 2021\/2022, through which the younger generations are promoted and sensitized to the importance of healthy eating, conscientious consumption and an active lifestyle, using various recreational activities, special classes, challenges and other surprises for the students and teachers involved.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThis year, the Miss\u00e3o Continente School program, which already covered the 1<sup>st<\/sup> Cycle of Basic Education (CBE) since 2016, was extended to Pre-School and to the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Cycle of Basic Education (CBE). Of the 1<sup>st<\/sup> CBE, a total of 557 schools (57.232 students) enrolled, 28% more compared to last year. Pre-schools joined in force in this first year, being represented by 109 schools (4.365 students), and from the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> CBE, there were 56 participant schools (9,107 students).\r\n\r\nTV presenter Francisco Garcia, TV presenter and food writer Filipa Gomes and the Women\u2019s National Team\u2019s soccer player, J\u00e9ssica Silva, are Miss\u00e3o Continente School\u2019s official ambassadors who, during this school year, will challenge students and participate in the various planned educational activities.\r\n\r\nAt the same time, Miss\u00e3o Continente School will assess, for the first time, the impact of this educational program on healthy eating, in 44 schools of the 1<sup>st<\/sup> CBE, for 4 consecutive years (2021-2025). It is the first scientific study in a nutrition and community health program of this dimension in Portugal.\r\n\r\nThe General Directorate of Health, the Centre for Studies and Research in Social Dynamics and Health (CEIDSS), the S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o University Hospital Centre (CHUSJ), the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Porto and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) are the Miss\u00e3o Continente School\u2019s institutional partners, which also has the support of the General Directorate of Education.
